More About Patrick Kane Jerseys

Though at 5'10" tall and 175 lbs, Patrick Kane is somewhat diminutive for an NHL forward, his incredible talent was too much to overlook and the Chicago Blackhawks selected this American star #1 overall in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.

Though some hockey experts would consider selecting a "small" player a risk, there really was very little gamble in Kane's high selection. The right winger had been a superstar with the United States U-18 National Team Development Program before moving on to the London Knights of the OHL. In the physical Canadian junior league Kane's quickness, elusive style of play and his talent allowed him to rack up an impressive 145 points. Come playoff time Kane proved he could deliver when the hockey got tougher, racking up 31 points in 16 games.

Kane Wins the Calder Trophy

The Chicago Blackhawks took an enormous step forward in the 2007-08 season. The doormats of the league for several seasons, the arrival of rookies Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews immediately turned the franchise around, and hockey pundits everywhere predicted that these two young men would have the Blackhawks contending for the Stanley Cup sooner than later.

As had been the case in junior Kane showed he had absolutely no problem facing off against much larger players. His incredible vision on the ice and slick passing ability helped him pile up 51 assists during his rookie campaign. He added 21 goals for good measure, and the 72 point total helped him win the Calder Trophy as the NHL's rookie of the year, edging out teammate Toews and Nicklas Backstrom of the Washington Capitals to capture the honor.

The following year, though he experienced a slight drop in personal statistics, was even better for Kane. With 25 goals and 70 points Kane helped the Blackhawks reach the post-season for the first time in years. In the post-season he would rack up 14 points, including an impressive 3 goal performance in the final game of their quarter-final series against the Vancouver Canucks that helped eliminate their Western Conference rivals.

Though Kane and the Hawks would go on to lose in the semi-finals against the Detroit Red Wings, the young Hawks gained valuable experience that would serve them well the following season.

Kane and the Hawks Win the 2009-10 Stanley Cup

The 2009-10 season was one to remember for Kane and his Hawks teammates. Kane enjoyed his best year statistically, reaching the 30 goal plateau for the first time and adding 58 assists for 88 points, and leading his team in all three major offensive statistical categories. His Hawks also surged up the standings, finishing second in the Western Conference with 112 points.

As great as the regular season was for Kane the playoffs were even better. The speedy star racked up 28 points in 22 games in series victories over the Nashville Predators, Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks and Philadelphia Flyers. The ultimate icing on the cake, however, was Kane's Stanley Cup winning goal in OT of game 6 against the Flyers. His low shot was so sneaky that no one else in the entire rink even realized it went in the net. Kane was well aware though, racing down the rink in jubilation to celebrate the Stanley Cup victory he'd just delivered for his club.

Patrick Kane stars for Team USA at the 2010 Winter Olympics

Chicago fans weren't the only ones to cheer on the man in the Patrick Kane jersey in 2010. In February the entire country got behind Kane and his American teammates as they enjoyed a glorious run at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Ultimately the run would end in bitter disappointment for Kane, Paul Stastny, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise and the rest of the Americans after Sidney Crosby's gold-medal winning OT goal. However, a silver medal is nothing to sneeze at, and was a huge accomplishment for a team that many deemed too young to be a legitimate medal contender.

At just 21 years of age Patrick Kane has already accomplished more than many grizzled NHL veterans. Though salary cap issues have forced his Chicago Blackhawks to jettison players like Dustin Byfuglien and Kris Versteeg with Kane signed to a long term deal you can bet the Blackhawks will continue to be Stanley Cup contenders for years to come.
